A bench with room for the next idea

Draw a working rectangle

Clear a space large enough for the object and your hands. Put unrelated storage somewhere else, even if that means a temporary box. A work surface is useful when you can place something on it without first balancing yesterday’s project on the floor.

Give loose parts a home

Use shallow trays for pieces that roll and labelled containers for parts that look similar. Keep the instructions and the unfinished model together. Photograph a complicated arrangement before moving it so the next session begins with a clear reference.

Leave a restart note

Write the next action on a card before stopping. Include any drying time or unfinished adjustment you need to remember. Putting the bench away becomes easier when you know exactly how to return to the work without reconstructing every decision.
